[the feed goes on to a... rather... odd-looking man smiling down at the camera: 'odd' mainly because of that blue hair-swoosh-thing going around his head like a halo of sorts. he might be familiar to a couple of faces here and there, if it weren't for his lack of usual glasses. new arrival? possibly, though he's looking significantly calmer than the average newbie. in fact, one could say that he almost looks... anxious? excited?
well, he's certainly not demanding to go home.]
I must say, this is quite the shock! I'm not entirely sure how my captors had managed to bring me here without my Pokémon's or my own knowing, along with surgically adding on these wings with no complications, so I must applaud them for doing so! It must have taken a rather powerful anesthesia for this to be feasible.
[so yeah, it doesn't look like he cares much about being abducted, since he's just rambling at this point. he holds the book high for a moment before bringing it close... very close. he squints his eyes.] This book is quite the technological anomaly, too. Apparently it functions as a form of communication... Very similar to a cross-transceiver I'm guessing. A bit bulky for my tastes, but quite fascinating-- it even has paper pages like a real book! I wonder how the inventor made this sort of thing feasible...!
[he finally draws the book away, though apparently his smile disappeared. he sighs.]
Although I wish they had left me with more than just my lab coat... I can hardly see properly without my glasses, much less perform a proper examination on these wings. [he's not paying attention to it, but if one can listen closely, they can hear something that's akin to an alien's chirping-- if they ever heard such a sound. by the way, he's back to smiling.] Well, I'm quite sure all of this is being broadcasted... so! If anyone happens to find a pair of blue-framed glasses, I would be very much appreciativuuUUWOAH!!
[a sudden brown blur distorts the image and then SPLOOSH!! the book goes flying out of his hand and snaps shut when it hits the ground.]
action;
[if you happened to be in town, you may have been witnessing one of three things happening: one is of said man stumbling around with a hand out in front of him, almost as though he'd run into a street post if he didn-- oh, just like that. two is very brief: a whoosh of something brown flies right past you, followed by a very shrill, very annoying, succession of chirps.
number three is what you see now: said brown blur rams right into said man's face and they both fall right into the Conveniently Placed fountain. whatever that brown blur was, it sure is happy to see him, though the man isn't quite as happy.]

Oh, if you're sure...though from the looks of it, I take it that your Beheeyem was quite relieved to see you here.
video;
Mm, he is, and quite vocal about it too. He's naturally this affectionate, though, so it's nothing that's not out of my ability to handle.

[
inb4 "but what's a pokemon connoisseur" as he still sort of vaguely assumes that most Poke'people from Unova know what that is...]video;
he'll have to admit that he's never heard of such a title before (and last he remembered, wasn't this guy a gym leader?), but who is he to judge: unova is vast and diverse, holding many a trainer and pokémon affectionado within its borders. what if he's just yet to run into a pokémon connoisseur until now?
but that thought doesn't last long. what really catches his attention was basically the gist of this guy's response: his eyes widen in response to it and he spares a glance at his beheeyem behind him. him and his beheeyem... a bond? he never really thought of having that sort of thing with his pokémon, even if it was relatively definitive from the moment the poké ball sparked. still, he... he's genuinely surprised.
a bond with his beheeyem... does it really seem that way in others' eyes?]
I see... [he brings a hand to his chin in thought, and after a moment, his smile reappears.] ...I see! And such a bond would be a great contribution to that Pokémon's strength, correct?
video;
manythings. Multi-tasker to the stars, this one.]Absolutely! The emotional connections between Trainer and Pokemon, the two working together in harmony to achieve victory--they draw out each other's strengths and can present a truly wondrous taste in battles! If there's no compatibility, then they can't bring out their more inherent flavors when tuning themselves to their Trainer's commands, and in turn the Trainer can't work in-sync with their Pokemon. That's why it's important to have a bond with your Pokemon if you wish to draw out their full potential.
video;
[he's always wondered whether or not such beliefs were just a child's dream. bonds are very fragile, can be broken as easily as they are made, but... if there's already such a universal belief that this is The way, then...]
...I see, I see! I had wondered whether or not such a bond truly contributed to a Pokémon's potential, as well as whether or not there were alternatives to achieving such power! To hear such a belief from an esteemed Gym Leader... [there are still things he needs to look into, several factors that need to be properly examined, but...] A very powerful Trainer had taught me that this is the ideal way of drawing out a Pokémon's potential as well...
[he pushes up his glasses.] There are still questions that need to be answered, factors that need to be determined... for the sake of my research, I will scientifically confirm whether or not this method truly is the ideal way of bringing out a Pokémon's potential!
video;
I had a feeling that you were a researcher--it's always a pleasure to meet someone with a similar interest in the more scientific tastes of the world as well! [Hell there's sort of a scientific logic to being a Connoisseur that he would happily explain, but first--] In fact, I would love to hear more about the kind of research you do...ah, I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your name yet!
video;
[oh right. intros are a thing.] Ah-- pardon me; I am Colress. The focus of my research is bringing out the full potential within Pokémon!
video;
B-but as far as Cilan is aware of right now, you seem like a pretty cool guy!]
I see! That's certainly a wonderful topic of intrigue worth studying... [He gives a slightly formal bow of the head in the little window of the journal.] I'm Cilan, a Pokemon Connoisseur and one of the Gym Leaders of the Striaton Gym. It's a pleasure to meet you, Colress.
